Discovering Augusta's Hidden Gem: The Augusta Canal

Growing up near the Augusta Canal, I have made countless memories there. I even had my second date with my wife kayaking down Stallings Island. It's a beautiful and historic waterway that runs through Augusta, Georgia, and offers plenty of outdoor activities for everyone. I remember biking with my dad along the canal and exploring the many trails and parks. One of the most beautiful and serene spots is the "waterfall" on the river side, perfect for picnics or taking in the stunning view.

The Augusta Canal National Heritage Area is an excellent stop for history buffs, featuring a museum, historic buildings, and guided tours. Visitors can learn about the canal's role in the Industrial Revolution and its impact on the local economy. However, the canal is not just for history lovers. You can also go kayaking, fishing, or take a leisurely stroll along the many trails. The canal is a peaceful escape from the city and a great way to connect with nature.
I even had the chance to shoot a commercial for the serene 18 paddle trails. The Augusta Canal is truly a hidden gem that everyone should visit at least once. It's an essential part of Augusta's history, and it's a fantastic place to explore, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. So the next time you're in the area, make sure to add the Augusta Canal to your itinerary.
